Bro. Andrew & Margaret Howell
Andrew and Margaret met while students at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. Following Andrew’s graduation, they married and moved to central Florida where Andrew served as youth and music pastor and Margaret completed her degree in elementary education. Andrew completed his education at Asbury Theological Seminary.
After several years pastoring in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, in 1984 they responded to God’s call to go to the Congo (then Zaire) to work with Christian Leadership Ministries. From 1985-1994 they served in the Congo with Margaret’s two brothers and their families.
While still serving in the Congo, Andrew and Margaret went to language school in France. The time they spent in France opened their eyes and their hearts to the needs there. So, in 1995 they joined The Mission Society and in 1998 moved to France to serve with the team in the suburbs of Paris.
They have served in many different capacities during the fifteen years they spent there. Working with their local church they preached, taught Sunday School, sang with the worship team, lead the ALPHA Course, and helped direct work teams. In addition, they worked with missionary kids organizing retreats and outings in the Paris area, taught for Community Bible Study International, and for several years they pastored a house church that met in their home.
In 2000 Andrew and Margaret joined with Famille Je t’Aime, a family ministry focused on equipping and encouraging French families. Their 40 years of marriage and 35 years of working with families helped prepare them to counsel and also teach conferences and seminars throughout France on family life, marriage, and raising children.
Andrew and Margaret moved back to the US for a new ministry in October 2013. They accepted the role to provide counseling, coaching, prayer ministry and training of couples and families for The Mission Society. In this new position they taught on marriage and family relationships. They traveled in response to requests in the US as well as abroad including France each year. They work to expand and develop family ministry among the constituency of The Mission Society and its network, as well as among their workers globally. In June 2016 Andrew was appointed to the AL-WFL conference to serve Mt. Pisgah UMC in Clanton.
